Featured Build · First 3D-Printed AI Humanoid Robot in Bangladesh

NiKO — AI-Powered Humanoid Robot

NiKO is the first fully 3D-printed, AI-based robot built in Bangladesh — a fully homegrown, Raspberry Pi-based machine. The body alone took nearly 11 months to print — more than 329 pieces from 25 kg of filament — and after working tirelessly through all of it, the team finally brought NiKO to life, unveiling it publicly at the university.

NiKO answers questions from its knowledge base and falls back to live internet search when an answer isn’t stored. It performs face detection and recognition, detects and identifies objects, asks people about their identity and saves it to its database — and with 27 degrees of freedom it can precisely catch and grab objects. Development is ongoing, with new features in progress.

Compute Raspberry Pi (8 GB) as the robot’s CPU, running Linux.

Software Core language Python — with modules like Selenium and OpenCV, Bash scripting, NLP, and the Google SDK.

Motion 12 sets of 40 kg servos (locks customized for full 360° rotation) plus 31 servos of different sizes, driven by two Adafruit 16-channel servo drivers.

Vision & UI Two cameras — a Logitech camera at the front and a Pi camera at the back — with a Pi display at the front.
